Moduguda remarks irk party's top brass
The MLA said and added that he has not uttered a single word against the party line.
Vijayawada: Guntur MLA and TD leader M. Venugopal Reddy’s ‘special status’ remarks have irked the party high command.
Though party national president N. Chandrababu Naidu has been tell-ing not to utter anything on controversial issues, Mr Venugopal Reddy made a bold statement about special status.
When asked, Mr Venugopal Reddy told this newspaper that “special status issue is just a comma till now and the NDA has not put a full stop to that. If the Congress is going to strengthen, the BJP has to be held responsible for that.”
The MLA said and added that he has not uttered a single word against the party line.
The MLA has made it clear that the NDA-II government has to fulfil the promises made by UPA-II, regarding the special status. “Special status to AP is not a closed chapter, it is an open book,” Mr Ven-ugopal Reddy observed.
The TD national president N. Chandrababu Naidu had warned from the Mahanadu dais itself that any sensitive issue must be discussed within the party itself and any deviation would be dealt seriously. Just after a week of Mahanadu, Guntur MLA Mr Venu-gopal Reddy has irked the TD headquarters with his controversial statement on special status.
Mr Naidu had also war-ned the party cadres and leaders not to speak out any word of sensitive in nature, especially with related to special status and ties with the BJP or NDA. However, Mr Venugopal Reddy has purposefully invited this controversy, according to a TD leader from Guntur district.
