Telugu Desam leaders seek CBI inquiry in Miyapur land scam

Hyderabad: Telugu Desam leaders who visited the controversial Miyapur lands on Monday, demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao should order a CBI probe into the scam.

In addition, to prevent encroachments of the government lands, the construction of the proposed two-bedroom housing colony for the poor should be started with earnest and immediate effect on this land.

A TD delegation led by president L. Ramana, working president A. Revanth Reddy, senior leaders E. Peddireddy and Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy visited the area and interacted with locals.

The leaders questioned Mr Rao’s inertia in taking stringent action against a secretary working in the CMO.

A close relative of the Miyapur land scam kingpin Gold Stone Prasad, the secretary has allegedly colluded with the perpetrators in duping the government by making fake registrations.

“Why is the Chief Minister hesitant to take action against his Secretary? At the very least, why is he not being transferred from the CMO?” was their refrain.

Deriding the Chief Minister’s statement that said that the lands has not changed hands and is still intact with the government, TD leaders said while it was commonplace knowledge that the land will remain where it is despite the scam, it was the responsibility of the state government to protect the land by fencing the area which it has not done.

The TD leaders further commented that as the state government had been bemoaning the fact that there was scant vacant space to build houses for the poor, why wasn’t it making use of this available land at Miyapur and making the dream become a reality.
