Puducherry: Stepping up protest against Lt Governor Kiran Bedi, Puducherry welfare minister M Kandasamy plans to begin an indefinite hunger strike in front of the Parliament to condemn her actions and that of the central government for not taking actions to curtail the 'pro-activities' of the Lt Governor.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy , the minister said he will go on a fast to protest against Lt Governor, who is obstructing the development of the Union Territory and the Central government for not initiating any actions against her.

Ever since the Congress government assumed the office, no welfare schemes could be implemented in time and properly, including wavering farm loans, full reimbursement of tuition fee of SC /ST students, ongoing schemes of free rice, free clothing, because of the unnecessary intervention of the Lt Governor, the letter alleged.

The Lt Governor is personally engaging individuals and NGOs who are exercising anti-goverment activities and lodging baseless complaints with the help of NGOs to stop the work of port development and fishermen welfare schemes.

The minister also alleged that for the last two months the finance secretary on the advice of Lt Governor, is exercising tactics to turn down files. Neither the ministers concerned nor the chief secretary was kept informed of any action taken.
