MP: 35 pc Quota for Women in Govt Jobs
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government has introduced 35 percent reservation for women in recruitment barring the forest department ahead of the assembly polls, due in the state by end of this year.
A notification in this regard was issued by the state government late on Wednesday.
The state government has amended the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Special Provisions for Appointment of Women) Rules, 1977 to introduce the provision for 35 percent reservation for women in recruitment.
The move comes in the wake of the recent announcement by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to introduce 35 percent reservation for women in the police department and other government jobs.
Mr Chouhan also declared to advance the release of the monthly incentive given to the beneficiaries of ‘Ladli Bahna’, the chief minister’s pet scheme, in the current month due to the possibility of the enforcement of model code of conduct any time.
The Election Commission may declare assembly polls in the state very soon, Mr Chouhan said.
The incentive for the current month was earlier scheduled to be released on October ten.
The state government provides financial assistance of Rs 1,250 every month to around 1.36 crore women beneficiaries under the ‘Ladli Bahna’ scheme in the state.
The ruling BJP believed that the scheme may prove a game changer for the party in the year-end assembly elections.
