Uttam Kumar Reddy meets jailed students, seeks judicial probe into death
Mr Reddy visited the Chanchalguda jail where Congressmen and students were remanded on account of their protests in the university.
Hyderabad: Telangana PCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy reiterated the demand of a judicial probe into the death incident of Murali, a post- graduate student from Osmania University, and also on police resorting to brutal lathicharge on students who were trying to protests over the death.
Mr Reddy on Tuesday visited the Chanchalguda jail where Congressmen and students were remanded on account of their protests in the university.
Accompanied with legislators T. Jeevan Reddy, Dr J. Geetha Reddy, T. Rammo-han Reddy, Akula Lalitha and Santosh Kumar, Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav, TPCC Legal Cell chairman Damodar Reddy and others, the PCC chief met the student leaders Pratap Reddy, Addanki Dayakar, Manavta Rai, Ellanna, Durgam Bhaskar and 22 others.
Speaking to media at the jail, Mr Reddy alleged that nearly 40 students and their leaders were kept into illegal custody and then implicated in false cases by TRS government when they protested against the suicide of Murali Mudiraj.
Announcing that the Congress would approach the High Court and Supr-eme Court against these illegal cases and arrests, he condemned Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for his dictatorial behaviour.
