Thousands bid farewell to Rosaiah
The body was later shifted from Gandhi Bhavan to Rosaiah’s farm house at Devaryamjal in Kompally
HYDERABAD: Political leaders and the general public bid the final farewell to former chief minister of the United Andhra Pradesh Konijeti Rosaiah here on Sunday. The funeral was held with state honours at his farmhouse in Kompally in the afternoon.
Earlier, the body was kept at Gandhi Bhavan to enable the public pay their last respects.
On behalf of the Congress and its president Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and TPCC and APCC presidents A. Revanth Reddy and S. Sailajanath paid rich tributes to the deceased, at Gandhi Bhavan.
Union minister G. Kishan Reddy, AP ministers Botsa Satyanarayana, Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani), Vellampalli Srinivas, Balineni Srinivas, TTD chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay, former CM Nadendla Bhaskarrao and film star Chiranjeevi paid rich tributes to Rosaiah when the body was kept at the Ameerpet residence of the deceased.
The body was later shifted from Gandhi Bhavan to Rosaiah’s farm house at Devaryamjal in Kompally. His elder son K. Shiva Subba Rao lit the fire. Police fired three rounds into the air as a mark of respect.
Kharge said Sonia Gandhi deputed him to the funeral of Rosaiah on behalf of the AICC. “The Congress has lost a great soul. Rosaiah was non-controversial and served the society well,” he said.
Revanth Reddy, Sailajanath, AICC secretary Srinivasan Krishnan, political affairs committee convener Mohammadali Shabbir, former minister K. Jana Reddy, Sampath Kumar and Balram Naik were among those present.
