Warangal / Karimnagar: As many as six senior Congress leaders from the erstwhile Warangal and Karimnagar districts, who have been with the party in its hard times and played a key role in bringing the party to power by registering victories in the Assembly elections, are in the race for Cabinet berths.

The Congress regained its past glory by winning 18 out of 25 seats in both erstwhile districts. Speculations are going around that at least six MLAs – 3 each from both districts -- would get minister posts in the Cabinet to be led by Revanth Reddy.

In Warangal district, Seethakka had promised voters to develop Mulugu district by claiming that she would get a minister post if they elected her. As she is the only woman MLA from the ST community, Seethakka is expected to get a Cabinet berth as Revanth treats her like a sister.

Konda Surekha who won from Warangal East and belongs to Padmashali, one of the major communities, is also in the race for minister post. In the past, she worked as a minister in Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy’s Cabinet in the united Andhra Pradesh.

Bhupalpally MLA-elect Gandra Satyanarayana Rao from the Velama community is confident that he would be offered a minister post considering his community equations like Errabelli Dayakar Rao from the same caste got a place in KCR’s Cabinet.

In the erstwhile Karimnagar district, D. Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar and Aadi Srinivas are among the senior leaders who won the elections except T. Jeevan Reddy, who lost to Dr S. Sanjay Kumar of the BRS in Jagtial.
Sridhar Babu from Manthani is the only key leader from the Brahmin community and sure that he will be elevated in the Revanth-led government.

Belonging to the major Gouda community, Ponnam Prabhakar from Husnabad played a key role in the Telangana movement as a Congress MP. He is also in the minister race.

Aadi Srinivas, who registered a thumping victory against BRS’ Chalmeda Laxminarasimha Rao and Dr Chennamneni Vikas Rao of the BJP in Vemulawada, is aspiring for a minister post under Munnuru Kapu quota.
He promises that he will also strengthen the party in Sircilla being represented by former IT minister K.T. Rama Rao, if the party will allot him a minister post.
