Put family before Mandram work, says Rajinikanth

THANJAVUR: Superstar Rajinikanth appealed to the office-bearers of ‘Rajni Makkal Mandram’ of Thanjavur district, through a video link, “to work with discipline, commitment and sincerity to bring about a change in politics” in Tamil Nadu.
“This we can do as we have an opportunity to do so,” he said in a video played for Thanjavur district office bearers at a meeting held here on Wednesday.
Office-bearers of the 16 panchayat unions in the district attended the meeting addressed by V.M.Sudhakar, state office-bearer of the Mandram and Raju Mahalingam, state general secretary of the ‘Mandram’.
After ‘Thamiz Thai Vazhthu’ was rendered, the video was played in which Rajinikanth asked his office-bearers to give priority to their families first and then come to the ‘Mandram’ work. He was not like those betraying families and coming to ‘Mandram’ work, the actor said.
Sudhakar in his opening remarks said that some people described superstar as “Vandheri” (one who came and settled in Tamil Nadu). “Now the address by superstar at the unveiling of MGR statue at Chennai on Wednesday has sent shock waves to them. Our Thalaivar addressed extempore without referring to notes for 40 minutes in that meeting. You all wanted him to come to politics. He has come, now it is your duty to protect him and strengthen him” Sudhakar said.
Many of the office-bearers who attended the meeting clapped whenever superstar’s name was mentioned and showed the sign of the ‘Mandram’ by rasing their two fingers and closing three in between.
