Polavaram oustees assured better relief
YSRC, TD nominees face close contest for Eluru Lok Sabha seat.
Rajahmundry: YSR Congress nominee Mr Kotagiri Sridhar is banking on his assurance to provide quality houses and better amenities at the rehabilitation centres for Polavaram irrigation project affected people while TD nominee and sitting MP Maganti Venkateswara Rao is relying on developmental works carried in the last five years to get support ofvoters in Eluru Parliamentary constituency in West Godavari in the polls.
YSR Congress nominee Sridhar who is the son of former minister late Mr Kotagiri Vidhyadhara Rao intends to continue the legacy of his father by taking up developmental work. His father served as an MLA for five times and as a minister for nearly nine years during TD regime under the leadership of the then Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Mr Rao switched loyalty to Praja Rajyam Party led by Chiranjeevi in 2009 and contested unsuccessfully. Subsequently, his son Sridhar joined BJP and worked in the party for some time and later joined the TD. He has been touring all over the constituency seeking support of voters.
As the Polavaram project people are complaining about the poor quality of work in the construction of houses and lack of proper amenities at rehabilitation centres, the YSR Congress nominee has assured that after coming to power, they would ensure maintenance of quality in houses so that the people could live in them comfortably and also vowed to provide all requisite amenities like water supply, roads, drains, street lights and others in the colonies.
Following complaints of discrimination shown in providing relief to the Chinthalapudi lift irrigation project affected people, he assured them that a uniform relief would be provided to them for the acquisition of their lands. On the proposed reduction of Kolleru Wildlife Sanctuary to plus three contour from the present plus five contour so that the saved land could be given away to the local villagers, the YSR Congress nominee sounded confident to prevail upon the Centre to allow such reduction so that the local people could be benefited. He also vowed that efforts to expedite the development of Eluru as a smart city would be made and better civic amenities based on the need in the villages falling under Eluru Parliamentary Constituency would be provided.
He is also giving widespread publicity on several welfare schemes mentioned in the party manifesto and also assuring people of better governance once their party was elected to power under the leadership of party chief Mr Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
On the other hand, sitting MP from TD, Mr Maganti Venkateswara Rao alias Maganti Babu is relying upon a series of developmental works carried out in the last five years and asking the voters to support him based on such works and also assuring to take up more developmental works.
Telugu Desam West Godavari district president Mr Thota Sitarama Lakshmi said, "Our party has initiated a series of welfare schemes and those who were benefited from them, will certainly support our party while others have confidence on our party head and CM Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu to lead the State in the path of progress and development."
From Jana Sena, noted economist Mr Pentapati Pulla Rao is in the fray and he has been touring in the segment assuring to fight for justice especially for the Polavaram project affected people.
