Special status: Chandrababu Naidu vows to protect AP's interests

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said he would not go back on the issue of special status even though the Centre refused to accord it.

Mr Naidu was taking part in Neeru-Chettu programme here on Friday. He said  he would fight for justice to AP and that he would not compromise for in protecting the interests of the state.

“The Opposition party, YSR Congress, is carrying on a false campaign against me that I am neglecting the interests of the state,” he said.

He saidthe Congress divided the state unscientifically, in nexus with the YSR Congress and the TRS. “The Congress planned to win seats in AP and Telangana but people taught a fitting lesson.”

He said he had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other Union ministers and requested them to implement all the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act.

Taking part in another programme, the CM said the Brahmalingam tank would be developed as a tourist centre and that Godavari waters would be shifted to it.
