Kalpetta: SNDP yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan participated in the SNDP workers’ convention along with CK Janu, BDJS candidate, despite a feeble protest from workers at Sulthan Bathery on Friday. Mr Natesan who landed at the St Mary’s College ground in a chopper along with wife Preethi Natesan was accompanied by SNDP leaders to the venue.

Candidate CK Janu who arrived later had to wait for some time as organizers were confused on allowing the candidate to participate in the convention. However, the protests were easily suppressed and Janu was allowed to sit on the dais along with Vellappalli Natesan and SNDP leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Natesan said that CK Janu was precious for Wayanad and if she won, the BJP government at the centre would pump in a lot of money for all round development. Later addressing reporters, Mr Natesan said that if the majority of VS Achuthandan increased, “the sun will rise in the west this year.”

“He is just a migratory bird who enjoys all the benefits of votes and vanishes after. This time the voters will teach him a lesson”, he added.  On the importance of his party, Vellappalli Natesan said that Muslims had eight political parties and Christians had seven political parties. But when Hindus formed a party there was a big hue and cry. “The formation of the BDJS has made a seachange in state politics and we are all set to win”, he claimed. He also honoured Janu with a shawl.
