File review petition soon: G Madegowda to government
Mr Siddaramaiah will become a role model if he refuses to adhere to the SC verdict and joins the agitation, says G Madegowda.
Mandya: Former MP and president of Mandya Zilla Raitha Hitarakshana Samithi, Mr G. Madegowda has urged the state government to immediately file a review petition in the Supreme Court expressing its inability to release 13 tmc ft of water to Tamil Nadu as directed by a two-member bench on Monday.
The veteran of the Cauvery agitation said advocates representing Karnataka in the SC, had erred by stating that the state was ready to release 10,000 cusecs of water to TN, which was totally wrong. He said the government must look out for a new advocate as the state’s counsel Fali Nariman had failed to protect the interests of Karnataka farmers.
The government would face the wrath of farmers if it agrees to release 13 tmc ft water to TN when they are pleading for water to save paddy crop.
"Don't test the patience of farmers. You should immediately file a review petition in the SC explaining the situation in the Cauvery basin. Mr Siddaramaiah will become a role model if he refuses to adhere to the SC verdict and joins the agitation".
Meanwhile, Melukote MLA K.S. Puttanaiah urged the chief minister to release water to save the paddy crop grown by farmers in Mandya district. "What sin have our farmers committed? You should give water to them too," he said.
