KAKINADA: Amaravati farmers marching to Arasavilli from Amaravati continued their yatra from Saripalle in Undi constituency of West Godavari district despite heavy rain.
Telugu Desam MLAs M. Rama Raju (Undi), Nimmala Ramanaidu (Palakollu), MLC Manthena Satyanarayana Raju and former MLA Vetukuri Venkata Siva Ramaraju welcomed the Amaravati marchers amid beating of drums and dancing by people.
BJP West Godavari district secretary P. Subhash Raju, CPI district secretary Konala Bhim Rao, CPM district secretary B. Balaram, and Jana Sena Undi constituency in-charge Juthika Nagaraju were among those who supported the padayatra.
BJP leader Subhash Raju underlined that Bharatiya Janata Party is for a sole capital at Amaravathi. He lauded Amaravati farmers for parting with their lands for the capital without taking a single paisa by believing in the promises made by former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Undi MLA Rama Raju maintained that people of Andhra Pradesh want only one capital for the state at Amaravati.
