Hyderabad: The Mahakutami leaders are jubilant over the results of the by-elections in Karnataka. The Janata Dal (S)-Congress alliance won two of the three Lok Sabha seats and two Assembly seats.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam national president N. Chandrababu Naidu congratulated Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on the wins, but Telangana Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was silent. It may be recalled that both Mr Naidu and Mr Rao had gone all the way to Bangalore to personally congratulate Mr Kumaraswamy when he was named Chief Minister. Earlier, too, Mr Rao had travelled to Bangaluru to meet former prime minister H.D. Deve Gowda and his son Mr Kumaraswamy to discuss the proposed federal front against the BJP and the Congress.

But now it is the AP Chief Minister who has taken on the task of uniting all anti-BJP parties under the leadership of the Congress.

In the Karnataka by-elections, out of three Lok Sabha and three Assembly seats, the JD(S) and Congress alliance won two Lok Sabha and two Assembly seats, the two Lok Sabha seats by a huge margin. Surprisingly, in Bellary (Lok Sabha seat), where the BJP is very strong, it is the Congress that won.

Mr Naidu expressed his happiness over the victory of the JD(S) and Congress alliance in Karnataka in a call to Mr Kumaraswamy on Tuesday.

The two Chief Ministers will meet in Bengaluru on November 9. The unity of anti-BJP political parties is expected to be high on the agenda.

The Mahakutami leaders are hopeful that the alliance will come to power in the forthcoming Telangana Assembly polls by defeating the TRS.

Interestingly AP TD leaders and Ministers like MP JC Diwakar Reddy, Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and others reacted  and said in the Telangana Assembly elections Mahakutami will come to power.

All India Congress Committee secretary and Karnataka Congress in-charge, Madhu Yashki Goud, said in the forthcoming Assembly elections in five states, including Telangana, the bypoll results will be repeated.
