Bengaluru: Soon after his elevation as Congress president later this month, one of Rahul Gandhi's first stops will be Karnataka - one of the few states the Congress is in power - with senior leaders planning a massive rally in his honour. The programme will in all likelihood be held in January.
A high-level meeting of Congress leaders attended by CM Siddaramaiah, AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal and Congress leader in the Lok Sbaha Mallikarjun Kharge also decided on a Congress yatra in all 103 constituencies which the party lost in 2013, which will be led by KPCC president, Dr G. Parameshwar.
Siddaramaiah on his part will kick-start his Sadhana Yatara on December 13. The leaders felt a Bus Yatra comprising 50 state leaders including Siddaramaiah and Parameshwar should tour the state in March seeking re-election of the Congress.
The leaders felt Siddaramaiah and Dr Parameshwar should lead two separate yatras to strengthen the party at the grassroots.
