Chandrababu Naidu asks public to shun family planning
Giving the example of Japan, Mr Naidu said that Japan was troubled due to the increased number of elderly persons and meagre young population.
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu now wants AP’s young parents to have more children, thereby saving the state from becoming another Japan.
Addressing in the AP Legislative Council on Thursday, Mr Naidu expressed concern over the decrease of the population due to family planning. He stated that once family planning was promoted by him due to the need of that time but parents now wanted only one child which was increasing the elderly population and decreasing the young population which was not good for AP, he said.
Giving the example of Japan, Mr Naidu said that Japan was troubled due to the increased number of elderly persons and meagre young population.
He said youngsters were needed for the development of society, state and country and asked people to give birth to more children shunning family planning.
Mr Naidu said that recently the norm that only those contestants who had two or less children could contest in the local body elections, was cancelled. Now people with more children could also contest in the elections. He said that Japan and many other countries were facing a severe shortage of young people due to the practice of family planning for decades. He said that the old people's population had increased due to good health.
