Mohammed Sharif elected Chairman of AP Legislative Council
Mr Naidu said that Mr Sharif served TD from the beginning with dedication.
Vijayawada: Telugu Desam MLC and government whip in the AP Legislative Council, Mohammed Ahmed Sharif, assumed charge as the Chairman of the AP Legislative Council on Thursday.
Only one nomination of Mr Sharif was filed and hence the council incharge Chairman, R. Subramanyam, announced the unanimous election of Mr Sharif.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and other leaders congratulated Mr Sharif. Mr Naidu assured that the Telugu Desam government was working for the development of minorities in the state. He stated that 78.5 per cent of people in AP were happy, which showed the good governance of the TD government.
Mr Naidu said that Mr Sharif served TD from the beginning with dedication. He said that he wanted to give two posts to minorities and hence he had given a ministry to Mr N.M.D. Farook and the Council chairman post to Mr Sharif.
Hailing from Narasapuram of West Godavari district, Mr Sharif completed B.Com in Y.N. College at Narasapuram and later did M.Com and LLB in Bhopal.
Mr Naidu said that Mr Sharif had played an active role in politics as a student and had joined the TD when the party was formed. After working in various party posts, Mr Sharif became the TD national general secretary.
Mr Naidu said that in recognition of his services, Mr Sharif was appointed as an MLC and later the government whip in the Council. Reeling out welfare schemes of the TD government for minorities, Mr Naidu wished Mr Sharif to run the Council smoothly with the cooperation of members and escorted him to the chairman’s chair with other members.
Mr Sharif thanked the Council members and stated that he would work for the smooth performance of the Council and would continue to serve the public.
