BJP MLA moves HC against BRS over funds
Hyderabad: BJP Dubbak MLA M. Raghunandan Rao approached the Telangana High Court complaining that the BRS government was showing disparity in sanctioning money under the Special Development Fund (SDF) to legislators.
He said the ruling party was twisting his arm by not allocating a single paise to his constituency, whereas allocating hundreds of crores to the Gajwel, Siddipet and Sircilla constituencies, which are being represented by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and ministers T. Harish Rao and K.T. Rama Rao respectively.
Justice P. Madhavi Devi heard the matter on Tuesday and adjourned the writ petition to February 13. The judge said she would decide the maintainability of the petition.
J. Ramachandra Rao, additional advocate-general, appearing for the government said the grievance of the MLA should be ventilated on the floor of the Legislative Assembly. The judiciary cannot intervene in the decisions taken by the Assembly, as stated by the Supreme Court, he said and sought dismissal of the writ petition at the initial stage.
B. Rachna Reddy, senior counsel, appearing for the petitioner said the government was intentionally not allocating funds for Dubbak.
