Pon Radhakrishnan claims DMK is deceiving people
Though both the Dravidian majors: DMK and AIADMK were agitating for the CMB, the Congress is against the constitution of the board.
Chennai: Union Minister of State for Finance and Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan has accused the DMK working president M. K. Stalin of “deceiving” the people on the Cauvery issue.
Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Mr. Radhakrishnan wondered if Mr. Stalin's yatra is aimed at fighting for the people of Tamil Nadu or to win alliance partners for his DMK. Asked why Stalin did not seek the support of the Congress party for a no confidence motion against the BJP-led government at the Centre over the constitution of Cauvery Management Board (CMB), the Minister replied, the DMK should reply why it has not asked Congress support for CMB.
Though both the Dravidian majors: DMK and AIADMK were agitating for the CMB, the Congress is against the constitution of the board. “But the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is keen on resolving the issue and ensure justice to Tamil Nadu,” Mr. Radhakrishnan added.
Contending that the DMK's protracted agitations would not augur well for industrial development of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Radhakrishnan said already the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh is demanding special status and if this is granted, then all the industries from Tamil Nadu would migrate to Andhra Pradesh.
“I would have appreciated Stalin if he had led the Cauvery Rights Retrieval Yatra to Bengaluru, instead he chose to target TN and its people. This clearly shows that Stalin's protests are not aimed at Cauvery or TN's wellbeing but only for his political mileage,” Mr. Radhakrishnan added.
