TRS calls 5,000 party leaders for April 11 protest in Delhi

It has directed ministers, party MPs, MLCs, MLAs and elected representatives of urban and rural local bodies to reach Delhi by April 10

Hyderabad: The TRS leadership is mobilising nearly 5,000 party leaders to press its demand that the Centre procure the paddy grow in Telangana during the ongoing rabi season.

It has directed ministers, party MPs, MLCs, MLAs and elected representatives of urban and rural local bodies to reach Delhi by April 10 and take part in the rally on April 11.

Party president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, who has been camping in Delhi since Sunday last, is holding overseeing arrangements with party leaders to put up a good show in what will be the party's first rally in Delhi after coming to power in 2014.

The party is yet to announce the venue and timing of the event. It has also not made any announcement over the participation of the Chandrashekar Rao, who is recovering from dental surgery that he underwent on Tuesday, in the protest.
Party sources said the CM wants the rally to begin from Telangana Bhavan and head to Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The TRS leaders will then sit on a dharna at Jantar Mantar for a few hours.

There is no confirmation on whether or not leaders from non-BJP parties will be invited for the rally. There were reports that farmer leaders like Rakesh Tikait of Bharatiya Kisan Union, leaders of Samyukta Kisan Morcha etc but there is no official confirmation in this regard so far.
