Should we go after the corrupt, asks Modi, crowd roars approval
HYDERABAD: “Modi has launched a war on corruption.”
The large audience that gathered at to hear Prime Minister Narendra Modi speak at the Parade Ground greeted the statement with a roar of approval.
Most of the people at the venue, where Modi had addressed a public meeting last year, appeared to wait for the Prime Minister to ask, in his trademark style, a series of questions. The expectation of the questions had something to do with the crowd, mostly BJP followers and workers, following closely the Delhi liquor scam case in which Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter and BRS MLC K Kavitha was questioned repeatedly by the Directorate of Enforcement.
The BJP too had been going hammer and tongs on the issue and blaming the Chief Minister and members of his family for corruption in the state.
“Should we fight corruption?” Modi asked, and the crowd roared its approval.
“Should we fight the corrupt?” Modi asked, and the crowd roared its approval.
“Should we free the country of the corrupt no matter who is involved?” Modi asked, and the crowd roared its approval.
“And should the law be allowed to do its work?” Modi asked, and the roar of approval was the loudest.
Family rule and corruption are not different, they are two sides of the same coin, Modi said, adding “where ever there is family rule, corruption blooms. Family and dynastic rule means they want to control everything, every system. They do not like it at all when anyone challenges that control.”
