Coimbatore: “In Tamil Nadu, polls have seen Ayya and Amma till now. But now, a bhaiya (brother Narendra Modi) has emerged,” said Union minister and senior BJP leader M.Venkaiah Naidu here.

Addressing an election rally at Town Hall, which has a considerable North Indian population, Venkaiah Naidu slammed the Dravidian parties for offering freebies in their manifestos to woo the electorate.

People need only infrastructure development roads, drinking water facility, toilets and power supply instead of freebies, he said. Due to frequent, long power cuts, many industries have shut down and farm sector has been affected.

Accusing the Congress of having committed corruption in every sector including coal allocation, 2G and helicopter purchase, he said the Modi government has offered corruption-free governance over the last two years.

“ The Modi government is pro-village, pro-farmer, pro-youth and pro- women,” he asserted, listing out the various welfare schemes launched by BJP regime.
The Minister campaigned in support of the BJP candidates in the city including Vanathi Srinivasan of Coimbatore south constituency.
