EVKS Elangovan to appear before court on August 4
On behalf of Governor, city public prosecutor M.L. Jegan filed the complaint before the court on May 11.
Chennai: The principal sessions court on Tuesday directed TNCC president, E.V.K.S. Elangovan, to appear on August 4 for allegedly making malicious remarks against Governor K. Rosaiah and Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa in a programme telecast by a private television recently.
On behalf of Governor, city public prosecutor M.L. Jegan filed the complaint before the court on May 11. The complaint said that in an interview to the television channel on April 30, Elangovan made defamatory remarks against the Governor and Chief Minister relating to appointments of Vice-Chancellors in state universities. Elangovan alleged that irregularities were committed in the appointment.
Meanwhile, the court has directed Nakkheeran R. Gopal, editor and publisher of Tamil bi-weekly, Nakkheeran, to appear before the court on August 5 for allegedly making malicious remarks against the Chief Minister with regard to seizure of Rs 570 crore during electioneering. The CPP filed the complaint on June 2. When the complaints came up for hearing before the principal judge, G.Jayachandran, he summoned them to appear before the court.
