Rahul Gandhi firms up plans for the road ahead for Congress
Jyotiraditya Scindia, Milind Deora, Jairam Ramesh likely to get major roles.
New Delhi: Speculation of a Congress Working meeting, ‘margardhak mandal’ and orgasnisational reshuffle is going on in the Congress party at a time when it is facing internal and external challenges from the loyalists and regional parties besides the BJP.
Officially the party is tightlipped on holding a CWC meeting in the coming days. But seniors who are above 70 years could be accommodated in a proposed advisory council rather than the day to day activities.
Sources said Jairam Ramesh, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Deepender Hooda, Raandeep Surjewala, Ashok Tanwar, K. Raju, Kumari Selja, Rajeev Satav, Gaurav Gogoi, K. C. Venugopal, Ranveet Singh, Sushmita Dev, Milind Deora, R.P.N. Singh Singh, Jitin Prasad, Milind Deora, Priya Dutt could get important positions in the organisation.
“At national level, you can get a combination of experienced and new leaders and but at state level, Rahul’s team will be clearly visible,” insiders said.
Meanwhile, Mr Surjewala said that Rahul Gandhi is finalising plans for structural changes in the party and has talked to a large number of partymen at various levels on the road ahead. Party leaders like Jairam Ramesh have already made a strong pitch for Rahul to take charge.
A senior leader, however, said that changes in the organisation needed be carried out cautiously given the fact that those sitting in the AICC are “more powerful than the syndicate” in the times of Indira Gandhi. There has been no formal word on when the much talked about meeting of the Congress Working Committee will be held.
