Boycott Telengana CM's iftar party: Tahreek Muslim Shabban

It encourages lot of corruption as about Rs 3 crore is spent on the event at L.B. Stadium alone.

Hyderabad: Several groups have issued a boycott call to the “Dawaat-e-Iftar” being hosted by the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday at the L. B. Stadium.

Dr Lubna Sarwath, general secretary, Socialist Party (India), Telangana, said the event was being held with the funds from the minority welfare department and are meant for raising the standards of the minorities. “Such waste of money in the name of Dawaat-e-Iftar and distribution of clothes benefits is resulting in lot of finances. It encourages lot of corruption as about Rs 3 crore is spent on the event at L.B. Stadium alone,” she pointed out.

Tahreek Muslim Shabban, president, Mohammed Mustaq Malik said the organisation is not happy with the performance of the government. “The real issues are not redressed and we are boycotting the event to bring to light the failed promises of the government,” he said. He appealed to the community to boycott the ‘Dawaat-e-Iftaar’ to highlight the failures of the government.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and leader of Opposition in Legislative Council, Mohammed Ali Shabbir is boycotting the “Dawaat-e-Iftaar” being hosted by Governor E.S.L. Narsimhan on Sunday at the Raj Bhavan.

He took the decision after the President of India Ram Nath Kovind office took a decision not to hold the annual event. “Ever since BJP in power this type of decisions to insult minorities particularly Muslims are reported in the Media, even Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has also given up tradition of Hosting Iftar party on behalf of PM office.

Muslims all over the world and particularly in India are not bothered for such type of cheap tactics of not hosting Iftar party and also taking away Haj, he said.
