Anger rages in Telangana Rashtra Samith ranks

The TRS high command has stuck to its declared policy of giving tickets only to sitting MLAs.

Hyderabad: Rebellion is brewing in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi with the announcement of the first list of candidates for 105 seats. The TRS high command has stuck to its declared policy of giving tickets only to sitting MLAs. 

In Ibrahimpatnam, the ticket was given to sitting MLA M Kishan Reddy, who moved from the TDP to the TRS. TRS leader K Chandrasekhar Reddy, who lost to Kishan Reddy in the 2014 election, was expecting the ticket, but did not get it. In Kalwakurthy, allotment of the ticket to sitting MLA Jaipal Yadav created a stir.

TRS MLC Kasireddy Narayan Reddy, senior leaders Goli Srinivas Reddy, Balaji Singh, and Vijitha Reddy are angry at the party for not considering them.

TRS leader Kotha Manohar Reddy is upset that the ticket was given to sitting MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy from Maheshwaram, who moved from the TDP to the TRS. In 2014, Mr Kotha Manohar lost to Mr Teegala but has been working hard in the constituency for the last three years, expecting a ticket.

In Adilabad district, several leaders from the TDP joined the TRS after they were promised tickets in the ensuing polls. TDP leader Ramesh Rathod who moved to the TRS in the hope of a ticket from Khanapur is angry at not getting the ticket. He may join the Congress. In Chennur, sitting MLA Nallaala Odelu was denied the ticket to make way for Peddapalli MP Balka Suman. Mr Odelu has raised the banner of revolt and is expected to join the Congress.

In Nalgonda district, the followers of minister Jagadish Reddy are upset that they have not been given tickets. Mr Reddy's close aide Koti Reddy was expecting a ticket from Nagarjuna Sagar, which did not happen. Instead, Left party leader Nomula Narasimhaiah, who lost to Congress leader K. Jana Reddy in 2014 was given the ticket again.
