Jana Sena alleges ₹2,800-crore scam in Pedda Jalari Peta
VISHAKHAPATNAM: Jana Sena corporator Pithala Murthy Yadav on Friday alleged that there is a major scam unfolding in Pedda Jalari Peta in Visakhapatnam involving valuable land.
He convened a press conference, where he alleged that YSRC Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy is involved in this ₹2,800 crore scam.
“Favouring the MP, officials of the RDO have moved a file to float Transferable Development Rights (TDR) bonds worth ₹2,800 crore,” P.M. Yadav charged.
He explained that in 1921, Rani Sahiba Wadwan claimed rights over the Pedda Jalari Peta lands. On the strength of her document, Visakha RDO Hussain Saheb and his team moved a file and conducted a survey. They then collected documents from families of Pedda Jalari Peta fisherfolk and are now moving files for paying TDR compensation worth ₹2,800 crore to the heirs of Rani Sahiba Wadwan.
The JS corporator underlined that according to the Estate Abolition Act, 1956, and Land Ceiling Act, 1976, a person cannot own more than 1,800 yards of land within the city limits. He charged that on the pretext of repealing the ULC Act, an attempt is being made to defraud the government with false documents and absurd claims.
P.M. Yadav wondered why the RDO is not challenging the claims in court.
