HYDERABAD: TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy on Friday alleged that the BRS and the BJP had conspired to deny permission to Congress leaders to conduct public meetings at the Parade Ground in Secunderabad like the proposed Vijaya Bheri public meeting.

Confirming that the party would organise its public meeting at Tukkuguda after the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, Reddy asked Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to act wisely. The government must provide security for the CWC meeting and the public meetings of the Congress, he said.

"We have made all arrangements for the public meeting. We had sought Parade Ground as the venue but it was denied by the government. We also considered LB stadium before deciding on Tukkuguda," he said.

The TPCC is hosting the three-day meeting of CWC here from September 16. The public meeting at Tukkuguda, Maheswaram mandal, in Ranga Reddy district is slated for September 17, which will be attended by AICC president Mallikarjuna Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.

Meanwhile, Reddy met the Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar in his office on Friday and submitted a representation seeking security for the Gandhi family members.

'We request the DGP to provide security for the dignitaries attending the CWC meeting in Taj Krishna and the public meeting to help prevent any untoward incidents," Reddy said in his letter.
