Rahul to take part in TPCC bus yatra in poll run-up
Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Telangana for a bus yatra the TPCC is planning, from October 15, to cover all districts in the run-up to the Assembly elections. Sources said that he is expected to take part in the yatra on October 19, 20 and 21.
Rahul Gandhi’s visit is being planned against a backdrop of the TPCC screening committee convening a meeting at the Delhi war room on Sunday to finalise the list of candidates, which the AICC is set to approve soon.
Party leaders said the TPCC’s political affairs committee would hold a meeting at Gandhi Bhavan on October 10 to discuss the bus yatra in detail.
Sources said during the meeting, two senior Congress leaders also got into a heated debate on adding two more candidates to their respective constituencies. TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy reportedly stepped in to resolve the differences.
The TPCC PAC will chalk out the bus route, and make arrangements for Rahul Gandhi to address public meetings. They are also planning to invite Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to take part in the bus yatra.
The demand for Congress tickets is heating up with leaders of the Kamma community meeting AICC leaders for more tickets, following visits by BC leaders. Osmania University JAC members also staged a protest seeking tickets for their members.
After eight hours of discussions in the war room, the TPCC screening committee finalised the list and sent it to the AICC central screening committee for approval. Confirming the development, Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said, “The list will be out shortly.”
