Will continue fight for Special Category Status: Raghuveera Reddy

TD, BJP failed to understand people's sentiment over SCS, says PCC chief.

PCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy has asked the government to release a white paper on the funds spent on Krishna Pushkaralu.

Kurnool: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Raghuveera Reddy conducted a public ballot before participating in a public meeting in Kurnool.

Speaking on the occasion, he alleged that both the TD and the BJP had failed to understand the people’s sentiment over the SCS. “The TD would reap poor harvest,” he said.

He said the TD came to power by making 600 promises, none of which had been fulfilled.

He, along with former Union minister Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy and Mr N. Tulasi Reddy, participated in a road show.

Local Congress leaders including former MLA Sujathamma and minority leader Ali Khan, helped in sorting out ballots returned by local people during the road show.

In an informal chat with the media, Mr Raghuveera Reddy slammed the Naidu government for ditching Telugu people by not pursuing Special Category Status issue with the Centre. “Though the ruling TD conveniently forgot the SCS issue, the Congress will not let it die down,” he said and reminded that it was the Congress that had introduced the private members’ Bill in the Rajya Sabha.

Mr Tulasi Reddy said the Congress had made three promises to Seemandhra. Of these three promises, one was grant of SCS to Andhra Pradesh for five years.

“If granted, it would have transformed Seemandhra into Swarnandhra. Both Modi and Naidu have cheated the people of Andhra Pradesh. The Congress is the only party which is competent enough to fetch and give the status to the state,” he said.

Mr Surya Prakash Reddy said people were wise enough to call the bluff of TD and they would teach a befitting lesson in the coming civic elections.

DCC president Lakshmi Reddy said special packages would fill TD leaders’ pockets and do nothing to the state.
