Hyderabad local body polls: BJP to focus on TRS failures in fulfilling promises
Party leaders allege Rs 500 crore released for assistance to flood-hit families went into pockets of TRS corporators
HYDERABAD: The Telangana state BJP on Saturday decided to fight the ensuing Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections on slogans like ‘Save Hyderabad from Majlis and TRS’ and ‘Mana (Our) Hyderabad-Mana BJP’.
BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union minister G, Kishan Reddy, senior party leaders D.K. Aruna, Dr K. Laxman, N. Ramachander Rao, Mantri Srinivasulu, Gujjula Premender Reddy and other office-bearers met at the state party office here to finalise the poll strategy.
Sources in the party disclosed that they have decided to focus on the failures of the ruling party in fulfilling its poll promises made during the last GHMC elections. It was also decided to expose the alleged irregularities in distribution of financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to each flood-affected family.
BJP leaders alleged that most of the Rs 500 crore released by the state government went into the pockets of the TRS corporators and this has caused a lot of heartburn among the victims.
Sources said that the party had decided to take these irregularities to the public and explore possibilities of initiating criminal action in this regard.
Sources said the BJP would be concentrating its fire on the TRS and MIM as the Congress had almost lost its foothold in the city.
Sources disclosed that the leaders exuded confidence of winning the Dubbak Assembly seat.
