Kumaraswamy Skips JDS Meet in Hassan

The reason cited by JDS MLA to stay away from Hassan meet was to attend a Committee meet in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: While, Janata Dal Secular leader and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy made an effort to showcase that all its MLAs are together despite his party’s alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party for parliamentary elections in 2024, however, its first-time MLA Sharangouda Kandakur skipped his party’s meeting in Hassan on Monday.

The reason cited by JDS MLA to stay away from Hassan meet was to attend a Committee meeting in Bengaluru which he missed on a couple of occasions.

The JDS has 19 MLAs in the incumbent Assembly and Sharangouda Kandakur had in the past had expressed displeasure over his party’s alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Lok Sabha polls of 2024. Kandakur represents Gurmitkal Assembly seat in Kalaburagi district.

Asked whether he had invitation for Hassan meet, the MLA from Gurmitkal Assembly seat in Kalaburagi district, admitted he had invitation for Hassan meet but declined to comment on the displeasure over JDS-BJP alliance. The MLA said “Even, there was a displeasure in me that I can’t reveal in public.”

To a query, he said he had intention of joining Congress party ruling in Karnataka and said that Congress party has 135 MLAs and “I think there is no need for the Congress party to induct me.”

Meanwhile, JDS MLAs led by its leader and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy offered prayers at Hasanamba Temple and this Temple in Hassan town opens for a specified time of a year during Deepawali festival.
