Shabbir Ali seeks KCR, KTR statements on Kamareddy master plan rowÂ
Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader Mohammad Ali Shabbir on Sunday demanded Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s response to the farmers’ stir in Kamareddy, brought on by a proposal to set up an industrial zone on agricultural land.
“The suicide of farmer Payyavula Ramulu could have been prevented if the state government reacted on industrial zone issue in Kamareddy,” he said.
Even as Kamareddy MLA Gampa Govardhan and district collector Jitesh V. Patil appeared to go back on the draft master plan, the Congress leader termed their response “too late”.
“Did the government react to the issue after the death of a farmer? People of Kamareddy understand the attitude of BRS leaders and (will) give a fitting lesson. BRS leaders also realised that they may not move in villages due to controversial master plan,” Shabbir Ali said in a release.
Further, he said that the farmers will not be pacified by the statements of the collector and the MLA, and said that the Chief Minister and minister K.T. Rama Rao must make a statement on the controversy and retract cases filed against farmers.
He said that the Congress would support the farmers during the agitation, suggesting they intensify their agitation peacefully and democratically.
