Zameer: Gowda can even call me an ISI agent
Zameer Ahmed Khan said he would not participate in any party meetings, unless party wants it.
BENGALURU: Reacting sharply to a statement by party patriarch Mr H D Deve Gowda, comparing him to Mir Sadiq, JD (S) legislator B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan said he would not change his stand irrespective of intemperate statements of his party leaders.
“Let him call me Mir Sadiq or Dewan Poornaiah. He can call me ISI agent or even Taliban. I will neither go against him, nor against the party interest,” he said.
He, however, added that he would not campaign for JD (S) candidate in Hebbal. “I had taken that decision in the interest of my community. Even I have responsibility towards my community. I had decided to remain neutral and will remain so. If Mr Gowda wants me to work in other constituencies, I have no problems,”he said.
Mr Zameer Ahmed Khan said he would not participate in any party meetings, unless and otherwise the party wants it. When asked about another statement on sending people to Umrah with his ill-gotten money, Mr Zameer shot back saying that he was not answerable to anyone on earth.
“I am sending 59 people to Umrah every year for the last 19 years. However, I am in politics for only last 10 years. I am answerable to Allah, if I am sending people with ill gotton money. My conscious is clear,” he said, adding “show me one politician in India sending poor Muslims to Umrah whether through I'll gotton or other money.”
