Hassan feud spills into Assembly
BJP members also supported him saying that disrespect of the former Prime Minister was not acceptable.
Bengaluru: The Congress-JD(S) political rivalry, which spilled over during the Mahamastakabhisheka at Shravanabelagola on Wednesday, has now reached the Legislature Privilege committee.
JD(S) leader H.D. Revanna brought up the issue saying Hassan district in-charge minister Mr A Manju had deliberately humiliated him and former Prime Minister Mr H.D. Deve Gowda. BJP members also supported him saying that disrespect of the former Prime Minister was not acceptable.
Deputy Speaker Mr Shivashankar Reddy said that Speaker Mr K.B. Koliwad had decided to seek a report from the Hassan DC before taking a decision. Mr Revanna and JD(S) members then staged a protest in the well of the House. At the end, Mr Reddy agreed to refer the subject to the privilege committee. Mr Revanna said protocol was breached during the inauguration of Mahamastakabhisheka. Though his name was in the list of guests, his name was deliberately not announced.
When it came to the list of speakers, Mr Gowda’s name was mentioned as one of the speakers but he was not allowed to speak, claimed Revanna.
