Petition in HC gives new twist to criminal case against PVP

Hyderabad: Days after Banjara Hills police registered criminal cases against the producer and businessman Potluri Vara Prasad for alleged trespass into property and threatening senior BJP leader D.K. Aruna's daughter Dharmavaram Kottam Shruti Reddy and Vinoda Kailas, a henchman of Vara Prasad filed a petition before the court seeking cases against Shruti Reddy and Vinoda Kailas under the SC, ST Atrocities Act.

Acting on the court directions, sub-inspector of Banjara Hills Manoj Kumar registered cases against Shruti Reddy and Kailas.

According to police, M Eleesha Babu, 42, resident of Borabanda filed a petition before the court stating that he was working as supervisor with Jhansi Sureddi, wife of Vara Prasad. He was taking care of construction work and had known Shruti Reddy and Kailas, Jhansi’s neighbours in Road No 7, Banjara Hills.

The two allegedly abused him using filthy language asking him to stop construction of a compound wall. He sought police protection.
Banjara Hills police registered criminal cases against Vara Prasad and his henchman on January 17 for trespassing into the premises of Shruti Reddy and Kailas.

Dharmavaram Kottam Shruti Reddy lodged a complaint with police stating that one Balaji, along with other goons employed by Vara Prasad, harassed and intimidated her and her family regarding their common compound wall. Vara Prasad and his men had trespassed and damaged the wall with drilling machines in order to erect iron sheets. When asked to stop the illegal work, Vara Prasad and others threatened Shruti Reddy.
