New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) moved an application in Delhi High Court on Saturday for taking on record additional submission in the anticipatory bail plea of former Union Minister P Chidambaram in connection with the INX Media case.

The CBI wants to file fresh submission that further investigation is going on in the case for ‘larger interest of justice.' The application will come for hearing on March 11 before Justice Sunil Gaur. The court has already reserved its order.

In 2007, the CBI had registered an FIR alleging irregularities in the FIPB clearance to INX Media when Chidambaram was the Union Finance Minister. Chidambaram and his son Karti were named in the case involving irregularities to the tune of Rs 305 crore.

Last month, the Law Ministry had granted sanction to the CBI to prosecute P Chidambaram in connection with the INX media case. On January 25, the investigative agency told the Delhi High Court that it wanted to carry out his custodial interrogation.

The Enforcement Directorate is probing the role of Chidambaram in money laundering case for giving a Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to the group in 2007. It has attached properties worth Rs 54 crore belonging to Karti Chidambaram.
