T Harish Rao, KT Rama Rao take up challenge over MPs' winning margin
At the meeting, TRS leader T. Harish Rao and other four MLAs of the Medak Lok Sabha constituency promised a five-lakh margin from the seat.
Hyderabad: A meeting to prepare TRS workers for the Lok Sabha elections on Friday turned into a competition on the margin of victory each leader could secure for the party.
At the meeting, TRS leader T. Harish Rao and other four MLAs of the Medak Lok Sabha constituency promised a five-lakh margin from the seat.
To this, the party’s working president K.T. Rama Rao said the party would win two votes more in Karimnagar than the winning margin in Medak seat.
Mr Harish Rao said the TRS winning all 16 LS seats was imminent and the contest remained only over the victory margin. He said though the margins were slim in the recent Assembly elections, the MLAs were working to build a substantial lead for the party’s LS candidates.
Responding to this, Mr Rama Rao said whatever Medak did, Karimnagar would do better.
To this, a leader on the dais asked whether this was a challenge between the two brothers-in–law. Mr Rama Rao responded that it was a challenge for TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao who is also one of the seven MLAs of the Medak LS seat.
He appealed to TRS leaders to compete with each other in getting a majority in their respective constituencies. He said even if the Congress and the BJP came together, they would not be able to form government at the Centre. The leaders at the Centre focused on development of their native states and not Telangana state, Mr Rama Rao said.
