BJP announces counter to Kavitha’s protest in Delhi
Hyderabad: The BJP has decided to launch a counter-attack against the BRS government with a ‘Mahila Gosa-BJP Bharosa’ protest at its party headquarters here on Friday, the day MLC K. Kavitha is set to lead a protest in New Delhi demanding women’s reservations.
The BJP’s protest, to be led by its state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar along with senior leaders D.K. Aruna and Vijayashanti, will highlight the ‘injustices done to women in Telangana’ under Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
Addressing a meeting of the party’s mahila morcha here on Thursday, Sanjay said, “We will not rest till Kavitha apologises to women of Telangana for equating her involvement in the Delhi liquor scam to the honour of women in the state.”
He said, “KCR and his family never cared about Telangana women. Now that Kavitha is facing heat in the Delhi liquor scam, they are trying to gain sympathy by terming the ED notice as an insult to women in Telangana.”
He said that the BRS never reacted when its woman sarpanchs, MPTCs and ZPTCs were reduced to tears in public on being harassed by senior party leaders.
“The protest by Kavitha is only to divert attention of people from her role in the liquor scam. If she is sincere, she should sit on a dharna in front of Pragati Bhavan demanding 33% reservation in Telangana to start with,” he said.
Meanwhile, national vice-president Aruna said, “both Kavitha and K.T. Rama Rao are speaking out of frustration. If they have nothing to fear, why can’t they face the inquiry without raising a hue and cry? Despite being fully aware of the conditions in the state under the BRS, their criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is laughable.”
