Hyderabad: Rajasthan’s deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot called on the people of Telangana state to vote for Congress candidates in the Lok Sabha elections for the development of the newly formed state.

He said in the last five years the Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti in the state have done nothing for the nation and the state respectively.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Mr Pilot said that the current Lok Sabha elections will decide the direction the nation would take. After it came to power, the BJP failed to implement many promises it made to the nation during the last general election, Mr Pilot said.

Mr Modi had promised to deposit Rs 15 lakh in the accounts of common people but did not do so. If the Congress comes to power it has pledged to give Rs 72,000 per year to every poor family across the country.

He pointed out that the Congress won state elections in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh recently, and will win the Lok Sabha elections too.

Mr Pilot said the judges of the Supreme Court have, for the first time, noted that democracy in the country is in danger, and said that after the BJP came to power at the centre, the attacks on the Dalits and the Muslims have increased.
