BJP to include PM advice in Karnataka list
The BJP, which aims to come back to power again in the southern state, has set a target of winning at least 150 of the 224 seats
New Delhi: The Karnataka BJP will release its list of candidates for the Assembly polls on Monday or Tuesday, after incorporating directions given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said, after a three-hour meeting of the party central election committee.
The Karnataka polls are scheduled for May 10, and the last day to file nominations is April 20. The Congress has finalised 141 names for the 224-seat Assembly.
Prime Minister Modi, Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah and BJP president J.P. Nadda and other members of the CEC as well as Bommai deliberated on the names of probable candidates.
Senior party leaders have been holding talks for a couple of days to winnow down the list of probables before the CEC takes a final call. The BJP, which aims to come back to power, has set a target of winning at least 150 seats.
