TS MP takes dig at AP govt for bad roads

 Visakhapatnam: BJP leader and Adilabad MP Soyam Bapu Rao came down on the AP government for bad roads in the ASR district which he himself experienced while travelling to Paderu from Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

The MP was in Paderu to attend the Jana Jathi Suraksha Manch rally which was participated by local Adivasi leaders.

Speaking to the reporters after the programme, the MP said the roads were reminding him of hell. He said it took him three hours to travel from Visakhapatnam to Paderu.

“I can’t imagine how the residents of Paderu are travelling to Visakhapatnam,” the MP wondered. He said it was unfortunate that even after the state bifurcation and districts reorganisation, the district headquarters of Paderu was yet to be developed with good approach roads.

“I thought Telangana is not developed. But, the situation is nothing different here in AP,” Bapu Rao said. He also said he was shocked to find illiteracy among youngsters in the region which indicated the backwardness of the state.

The MP appealed to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to develop Paderu and other Adivasi areas in the ASR district.

Responding to his comments, a local official said the distance between Paderu and Visakhapatnam was 105 km out of which only a 25 km stretch comes under the ASR district which is good and motorable. The remaining stretch is under the Anakapalle district which is always busy during day time and some sections need urgent repairs for which the traffic was slowing down, he said.
