Mangaluru: 'Sarkara Badalisi- BJP Gellisi"-the slogan resounded all across Mangaluru on Tuesday when BJP workers accompanied by their family members including children attended a road show of party national president Amit Shah.

Mr Shah who arrived here Tuesday afternoon, held a road show for Mangaluru constituency candidate Santhosh Kumar at Thokkotu. He followed it up with road shows for Mangaluru City South constituency candidate Vedavyas Kamath at Car Street and for City North candidate Dr Bharath Shetty at Kavoor.

Addressing workers and the public, Mr Shah chanted the mantra of development and flaunted the Hindutva card. He defined CM Siddaramaiah's Rs 100 crore notice to him and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an eyewash. "Yesterday CM Siddaramaiah has given notice to me and Mr Modi in a defamation case. I have been speaking (about his corruption) since the last three and a half months, why did you (CM) delay giving the notice? The Congress knows it is going to be ousted on May 15 when the results will be out. The notice is nothing but an eyewash," he declared.

"The change (of government) is not for changing any minister or the CM but is needed to change the future of Karnataka. More than 24 BJP and RSS workers were killed in the last 5 years and the state government has not taken action against them. Siddaramaiah can protect them as much as he can. His countdown has started. On May 15, the Siddaramaiah government will go and Yeddyurappa will come to power.  Siddaramaiah can hide those involved in  crime even in 'Paatal' but our new government will find them there and put the criminals behind bars,"Mr Shah declared.

He defined the Congress government as most corrupt. "Has anybody here have a Rs 40 lakh watch on their hand (like the CM)?  I have been asking Siddaramaiah about the watch but he has not answered. But finally about two days ago, he has sent a reply saying the watch was given to him by one Dr Verma. Now the CM has to reply if customs duty has been paid for this watch? Also the CM has to clarify the reason why the watch was given to him by Dr Verma? Will you (people of Mangaluru) ask him this when he comes here," the BJP president asked.

He lamented that all developmental works had been stalled. "The state and Bengaluru have been given to three leaders- Haris, George and Roshan Baig. Nobody questions them. But the Chief Minister should remember that if he protect the three, he would be defeated.”
