Hyderabad: State BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday slammed Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for ignoring sporting events, and instead, getting the state’s youth addicted to liquor. “Unlike Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Khelo India Jeeto India’ call, Chandrashekar Rao’s call is ‘Peelo Telangana-Pilao Telangana’,” he said.

Inaugurating the ‘Khelo Bharat-Jeeto Bhagyanagar’ sports competitions at Victory Playgrounds, Sanjay said that the Modi government, which recognises the role of sports in overall well-being of people, has allocated Rs 3,397 crore for sporting events this year.

In contrast, the Telangana government is intent on increasing liquor sales and consumption in the state, he said.

“In the past nine years, KCR has accumulated more than Rs 5 lakh crore loans on the state. In addition to pushing the state into financial doldrums, Chandrashekar Rao also destroyed the future of youth and did not keep his promise of one job for every family, and further compounded their misery with the leakage of TSPSC question papers. The youth must understand how KCR does not care for them. Once the BJP comes to power in the state, its government will ensure increased support to sports,” he said.

The event was attended by Dr K. Laxman, the Rajya Sabha member under whose leadership the competition was organised.

Also taking part in the inaugural were national OBC Commission chairman Hans Raj Ahir, singer Rahul Sipliganj, and BJP floor leader in the GHMC Council, Shankar Naik.
