Ensure e-Office system in majority of the departments: CM Pinarayi Vijayan
Directorate system to be considered to boost efficiency.
Thiruvananthapuram: As part of his government’s objective of corruption-free transparent new Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said efforts would be undertaken on priority basis to ensure e-Office system in majority of the departments by September.
He called for employing IT tools in a big way to improve efficiency in governance. Steps will be taken to implement effectively e-Governance and e-Filing system and outdated rules would be changed in a time bound manner, he said.
The CM said the departments relatively handling less file work would be made paper free during the first phase. e-Filing is not an impossible option even for Secretariat which handles huge number of files, he added.
Mr Pinarayi said e-Filing and e-Office system would will help people in checking the status of their file by a mere phone call. IT will have to be tapped to ensure total transparency in governance and time-bound services.
Mr Pinarayi said the government would not adopt a vindictive attitude towards employees on political lines and there will be no dismissals for participating in trade union activities. However, the government will not tolerate officials deliberately delaying files to harass people.The CM directed officials to avoid meetings and conferences during time meant for public hearing. The need for state civil service will be examined in consultation with service organisations. Mr Pinarayi said every citizen had the right to enter the Secretariat premises and this was the practice being followed since Kerala came into being.
