MK Damodaran is legal adviser on an honorary basis

Thiruvananthapuram: The state Cabinet on Wednesday decided to appoint advocate M.K. Damodaran as legal adviser on an honorary basis. Mr Damodaran was the AG during E.K. Nayanar’s tenure in 1996. Media personality John Brittas was appointed media adviser on an honorary basis.

Postings: V.J. Kurien posted as additional chief secretary irrigation and water resources. He will hold charge of coastal fishing, inland navigation, and interstate river water cell also. Transport secretary K.R. Jyothi Lal will have additional charge of animal husbandry, dairy  development  and zoos.

Dr B. Ashok has been posted as secretary Ayush Rani George given additional charge of museums, archeology, archives . T. Bhaskaran is new Land board secretary Padmakumar has been posted as Land Revenue Board joint secretary. He will also hold additional charge of coir department director. Ernakulam collector M.G. Rajamanickam got additional charge of Kochi Cancer Institute

Compensation: The Cabinet decided to grant five cents of land and construct 1,200 sq ft house for Major Manoj Kumar, who died in fire accident in Maharashtra apart from lifelong pension of Rs 5,000 per month for parents and the state will approach the Centre for a job to the widow of the Army man. In case the Centre does not respond positively, the state will give provide a job.
Rs 2 lakh each for kin of those drowned in Alappuzha and Kannur Rs 3 lakh for family of student Nishanth, who died in a mishap at a school in Kollam Rs 5 lakh compensation sanctioned for family of Christy John who was killed by his neighbour. Rs 2 lakh for the family of Ajayan who drowned in Periyar Valley canal. Rs 2 lakh to those who died of electrocution in Palakkad district.
