Probe Rahul Gandhi too for his remarks on killing: BJP
Even, Rahul Gandhi has expressed doubts over her death, let him also be brought under investigation, Mr Ravi said.
Chikkamagaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party MLA C.T. Ravi on Friday said that if his colleague and Sringeri MLA Jeevraj is to be subjected to police probe for his remarks on Gauri Lankesh killing, then All India Congress Committee vice-president Rahul Gandhi too should also undergo the same.
“Let Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the murder of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh subject both Jeevraj and Rahul Gandhi to investigation in order to crack the murder case.” Mr Ravi told media persons in Chikkamagaluru, “We have no objection if SIT brings his party colleague Jeevraj under investigation for his controversial statement on Gauri’s murder. Even, Rahul Gandhi has expressed doubts over her death, let him also be brought under investigation.” According to Ravi, law applies equally for both.
At a meeting in Koppa taluk of Chikkamagaluru, Jeevraj had said that Gauri’s hard hitting writings against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in her Kannada magazine led to her killing, while Rahul Gandhi had held RSS responsible for the murder.
Meanwhile, a section of the residents in Koppa have appealed to the police to take Jeevraj into their custody and file a case against him, as his statement establishes that the MLA was aware of who are involved in Gauri’s killing. In a counter complaint, BJP workers have demanded that Rahul Gandhi be taken into custody and take into possession documents from him on the murder and arrest those involved.
