Hyderabad: BJP state president Dr K. Laxman on Friday demanded that the state government immediately withdraw Government Order 39 that constitutes farmer coordination committees, as it would take away the rights of Panchayati Raj institutions guaranteed by the Constitution.

He said with such executive orders, government is trying to usurp the rights of Constitutional institutions like MPTCs, ZPTCs, and Gram Panchayats and entrust their responsibilities to TRS workers for political benefits.

Dr Laxman was speaking to mediapersons on Friday morning after conclusion of his seven-day yatra to press the government to celebrate the Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 as an official event.

Dr Laxman said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao before taking office had demanded official celebration of the day by the then Congress government. Mr Rao assured that a TRS government would implement the measure, Dr Laxman said. He said that to bring more pressure on the government, BJP cadres would stage dharnas across the state on September 11 to 13.
