Telangana Congress to protest TRS panels'
The protests would involve holding dharnas and burning the effigies of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Hyderabad: The TPCC executive committee on Friday decided to take up mass agitations across the state against the government for converting farmer coordination committees into TRS panels and to protest the Nerella incident where Dalits were allegedly tortured by the police in July.
TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy told mediapersons at the Gandhi Bhavan that Government Order 39 on constituting the committees clearly said that ministers would finalise the members. This means only TRS activists will be picked, he said.
He said the GO was not only unconstitutional but against all democratic norms, and the Congress would organise dharnas on September 11 across the state to protest this.
The protests would involve holding dharnas and burning the effigies of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Besides, the Congress will organise agitations against repeated atrocities and attacks on Dalits and tribals and also highlight the Nerella incident where the government has not taken action so far, he said.
The executive committee meeting also permitted TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to take up a statewide padayatra, titled ‘Dalit Protection Yatra’. Relay fasts would be organised either at Nerella or Sircilla from September 15, he said.
AICC incharge secretary R.C. Kunthia and AICC SC/ST cell chairman Koppula Raju, who attended the meeting, suggested that the party leadership take up a series of agitations take on the government on every issue that causes problems to the public.
