BJP to support Amaravati Maha Padayatra 2.0
Vijayawada: Bharatiya Janata Party has extended its support to Amaravati-Aravasavilli Maha Padayatra 2.0 seeking continuation of Amaravati as the only Capital of Andhra Pradesh.
The support came at the launch of a book “Amaravati Vivadalu-Vastavalu” authored by journalist Kandula Ramesh in Vijayawada on Thursday.
Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, BJP former state president Kanna Lakshminarayana, CPI state secretary Ramakrishna, APCC vice-president Thulsi Reddy and Jana Sena leader Bonaboina Srinivas Yadav were among those who attended the book-release function.
Speaking on the occasion, Lakshminarayana said BJP is in support of Amaravati as the only capital of AP. He then announced his party’s support to Amaravati Padayatra 2.0. He termed Amaravati as the pride of Andhra.
Addressing the gathering assembled at the book release, Chandrababu Naidu explained that Amaravati had been selected as capital of Andhra Pradesh, as it is the centre point of AP. He stated that he plans to develop Amaravati on par with Hyderabad.
Naidu asserted that IT developed in AP due to his efforts and provided employment opportunities to Telugu people internationally. He maintained that of every 100 NRIs working in various countries including America, 30 belong to Andhra.
Book’s author Ramesh said no state can develop without cities. He pointed out that even in 1953, many attempts had been made to prevent the capital of AP from coming up between Vijayawada and Guntur.
